|About the Guild|
What you should know before you join us - and why you should join us!
The Business Architecture Guild is a community of business architects who have come together to build and expand their profession. The Guild is an international, diverse community of business architecture practitioners, beneficiaries and interested parties. We are a collaborative collective where individuals can learn with and from their peers, explore and develop new ideas, and further the practice and discipline of business architecture. The Business Architecture Guild is an aggregation of the original Business Architecture Guild and other entities in the profession of business architecture, including the Business Architects Association® and the Business Architects Association Institute (BAA Institute) ®.
Many great educational pieces are available to the public from the Public Resources tab. But the most valuable, stimulating and collaborative material is only available to members. And this material is offered free to you with your membership. So join us and get started.
A Guide to the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge® (BIZBOK® Guide) is the primary resource for our profession. The Guild builds out new and existing content for the Guide through an agile, collaborative process. In fact, there are over 100 authors of the most recent edition. Generally, two editions are produced each year. We offer a downloadable, printable, password protected PDF to our membership. We ask member practitioners to provide feedback on each release.
Members have many avenues of participation in the Guild. If they have ideas or questions about the BIZBOK® Guide, topics presented in our webinar series, or any aspects of business architecture, they can participate in the Member - Only Forums. If their schedules allow, members may attend live webinars held monthly and ask questions on the topics presented. Collaborative Teams create and update the sections of the BIZBOK® Guide, but they do more than that – they write white papers, they build presentations for Guild educational events and other arenas. The Collaborative Teams each have a leader and a mentor. Any member may help form new Collaborative Teams at any time through our Staging Zone. In 2015, we have introduced our industry Reference Mddel Teams,This is how we Build the Guide. We also have opportunities for volunteers to Guide the Guild. Members with any level of experience may apply to these teams.
As a not-for-profit membership association, primarily volunteers run the Guild. We don’t receive any revenue for our publications, webinars, or co-hosted events. We don’t have a dedicated office. We don’t have a customer service staff or a technical support team. We make every effort to keep membership costs down and put the dues revenue we receive into member benefits. We’re very proud to have contracted with some skilled professionals for their part-time support, but all the ideation, program offerings, writing and decision-making is done by volunteers. We rely on members for their ideas, input and time to Guide the Guild.
We think the Guild is a wonderful place to build knowledge and networks. With the addition of the Business Architecture Guild’s Certified Business Architect(CBA)® program and Guild Accredited Training Partner (GATP™) program, the opportunity for members to advance their careers is growing. Frequently, members share their stories about career success due to their participation in the Guild. The Guild opened for membership in 2011 for exactly this reason – to build our profession with an informed, creative and connected membership. If this sounds like something you want to be a part of, please join us and see the exciting results.
