Certification update

The certification program now has over 100 Certified Business Architect (CBA)® Professionals and a large and growing backlog of members signing up to sit for the exam.

This certification program represents many hundreds of hours of work by dedicated volunteers and a strengthening of a long tenured relationship with Object Management Group (OMG).

We have also launched the CEU (Continuing Education Units) program so members may maintain their certification.

New Store Product

The Actionable Business Architecture Maturity Model™ (BAMM™) is available in our Online Store. Be sure to toggle BAMM from the dropdown filter over the product listings.

The Business Architecture Maturity Model™ (BAMM™) was developed, formalized, and tested by a team of BA Guild members from a cross-section of industries. A BAMM™ overview and usage guidelines are contained in BIZBOK® Guide Section 3.9, with the fully expanded BAMM™ found in Appendix B.3. Guild members requested an actionable format. The Actionable BAMM™ is delivered in the form of a spreadsheet that allows business architecture teams to score their practice from more than two dozen unique perspectives. Using these scores, management can rapidly assess the maturity of their business architecture practice and related investments and use them as input to roadmap definition and prioritization for their practice.

New Initiatives

With the business architecture discipline hitting new levels of maturity and standardization, and with the Certified Business Architect (CBA)® program now in place, organizations and practitioners are seeking ways to identify which training providers deliver offerings that align with A Guide to the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge® (BIZBOK® Guide). To address this need, the Business Architecture Guild will soon open the Guild Accredited Training Partner™ (GATP™) program. Those interested in training will be able to search for accredited partners by specific criteria, such as course content, format and location

New Industry Reference Model Teams and New Join a Guild Group page

Visit the Join A Guild Group page and you'll notice some significant changes - and some great-looking original art work. From this page, members and visitors to our site can access the 3 types of groups we have available for members. Our newly introduced Industry Reference Model teams, focused on Manufacturing, Healthcare and Financial Services, can be accessed from a single new page. We created a new page just for Collaborative Teams. We now have 14 Collaborative Teams. Collaborative Teams create and update sections of the BIZBOK® Guide, but they do more than that – they write white papers, they build presentations for Guild educational events and other arenas. At a glance, members and visitors will see the topic areas members are working on. We’ve added a third page dedicated to some of the behind the scenes groups and committees that keep the Guild growing. Check out the new pages and consider joining a Guild group.

Content updates and work in progress

In response to requests from members, the Guild is hard at work on the following deliverables: (Delivery dates are subject to revision.)

  • The Quick Guide will provide a snapshot of BIZBOK® Guide content for members who wish to communicate the concepts to colleagues. 2016
  • Two new presentations are being created for members to download and use with colleagues and decision makers. The first presentation will be on the value proposition of business architecture and the second will be an overview of the Business Architecture Guild® and the work we are doing to advance the field of business architecture.
  • Translation Teams -The French translation of Part 1 of the BIZBOK® Guide is mostly complete. We are actively looking for Spanish-speaking members to volunteer to translate Part 1 into Spanish!!!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for your continued support and ideas. Don’t forget to check out our Community pages, Member-Only Resources page and the Member Profile Overview. The best way to stay informed is to sign in on a regular basis. Set yourselves a recurring calendar reminder, so you don't miss out on what's new! Remember, the most valuable, stimulating and collaborative material is only available to members.
