The Business Architecture Guild has brought together a cadre of thought leaders with vision, experience and innovative ideas. We have introduced an agile body of knowledge, collaboratively produced and managed by practitioners and subject matter experts. We have provided a private online community where practitioners interested in advancing their discipline can connect around content. These are just two of our innovative ideas that are changing the way members of professional associations interact. What will the Guild do next?
William Ulrich of TSG, INC, is a strategic planning consultant. He has written several books, published hundreds of articles and papers, and has worked with numerous large corporations and government agencies. William participates in various industry events and is a featured speaker at many of these events. William latest book is titled Business Architecture: the Art and Practice of Business Transformation. William is Partner and Cofounder of Business Architecture Associates and Cutter Consortium Fellow. William serves on the Board of Directors, Editorial Board and is President of the Business Architecture Guild.
Jim Rhyne is the owner and founder of Software Renovation Consulting (SRC), a consulting firm specializing in conceptual information modeling and business-led transformation of core application systems. Prior to founding SRC, Jim was a Distinguished Engineer and chief architect for the IBM Worldwide Banking Center of Excellence where he created a transformation framework for core banking systems and consulted with major banks in the US, Europe, Australia and China. Jim has many years of architectural experience including strategic architecture responsibilities for CICS and mainframe application development tools. He was one of the founding architects for Websphere and contributed to the J2EE and Java standards. Jim has a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. He holds a number of patents and has published papers on User Interface Technologies, Conceptual Modeling, and Software Analysis. He has advised hundreds of large businesses on IT transformation projects and technology selection.
Mike Rosen is Reseach Vice President at International Data Corporation (IDC). As leader of the Strategic Architecture Practice he helps business and IT executives utilize architecture as a key tool for business and digital transformation. For the past 15 years, he was Chief Scientist at Wilton Consulting Group, which specializes in architectural consulting. Mike's 35+ year career has spanned startups, CTO roles, chief architect, and product architect for enterprise solutions, industry leading middleware products, software development, and hardware design. Mike has been a frequent speaker for conferences in more than a dozen countries. He is the author of hundreds of articles and several books including Applied SOA: Service-Oriented Architecture and Design Strategies, and Developing E-BusinessSystems and Architectures: A Manager's Guide. Mike serves on the Board of Directors and is Vice-President of the Business Architecture Guild.
Whynde Kuehn (formerly Melaragno) is Principal at S2E Consulting Inc, a consulting firm accelerating successful business transformations. She is a long-time business architecture practitioner, Business Architecture Practice leader, and played a key role in the largest business architecture-led transformation in the world. She has also developed and taught comprehensive, large-scale business architecture training programs for clients and the public. Based on her experience, Whynde’s area of expertise is building and maturing business architecture practices. As a result of her passion for social and environmental change, she has also founded Metanoia Global Inc which helps social entrepreneurs to start, scale and sustain successful businesses. Whynde serves on the Board of Directors and Editorial Board of the Business Architecture Guild.
Kathy Ulrich of TSG, INC, is the Executive Director of the Business Architecture Guild and serves on the Operational Support Committee and Finance Committee. With degrees in management and education, Kathy brings a unique perspective to the Guild. Kathy's management and education experience as well as her involvement with start up companies and extensive work with not-for-profits, helps her take on her demanding role at the Guild. She believes strongly in the power of association.
John Machiski is an Information Technology leader, with domestic and global IT experience delivering innovative IT strategies and services while realizing sustainable savings and organizational effectiveness within Life Sciences and Financial Services. John has lead business transformation initiatives, and managed multiple concurrent projects throughout the project lifecycle with an exceptional ability to demonstrate creative thinking, John's achievements include customer experience, employee satisfaction, building high performing teams, business strategy & motivation, relationships, big vision and growing businesses. John joined the Guild as a an associate member shortly after we opened and currently serves on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of the Business Architecture Guild.
Diane LeBeau is Director of Business Architecture at United Airlines, Diane is an experienced leader with expertise in mergers and integration, process analysis, and strategic approaches to business improvement. In her role, Diane has the responsibility for managing a common view of the airline's capabilities and works across the business and with senior management to meet strategic business demands. In addition, she collaborates with program and project teams in articulating and documenting project scope, documenting current and future state, and identifying gaps and pain points. Diane contributes to industry workshops and summits on business architecture. She graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Management.
Alex Randell is a Consulting Business Architect at Principal Financial Group. As a business architect, he facilitates the translation of business strategy and capabilities, including strategy-to-execution framework, business/technology alignment, and business transformations. Alex is a member of the Business Architecture Guild's Editorial Board, and chairs the Collaborative Leadership Team. He is also the founder of the Business Architecture Des Moines group. He has experience in marketing and technology across diverse industries, and holds an MBA with a Marketing emphasis from the University of Iowa.
Chalon Mullins is an enterprise architect with experience in a variety of industries, such as financial services, and health care. Throughout his career he has worked with a variety of organizations establish robust, comprehensive, and repeatable architectural practices. To that end he has been active with a variety of standards and standards bodies, for example, working on the curriculum for object-oriented design using UML while with the Lockheed Martin Advanced Concepts Center, and representing Charles Schwab at the Object Management Group and the World Wide Web Consortium. His current role with Kaiser Permanente charges him with developing the target architecture and business architecture practices. At the BA Guild Chalon has been active in a number of collaborative teams: the metamodel team, the customer experience team, and the information mapping team. He has also assumed the leadership role in the team developing a reference model for the health care provider industry.
Karin Roeder uses her management, organizational and communication skills to support corporate executives and their senior leadership teams. Her experience includes working for the chairman of the board of a community bank in Chicago, for the administrative manager of Allstate’s National Catastrophe Team, and most recently, for the senior associate deans at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. Karin was previously appointed to a Governor’s Executive Fellowship, has served as the Federal Legislative Liaison for the Illinois Institute of Natural Resources and provided staff support and constituent services to a member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners. Karin is assuming the role of Certification Manager and serves as the Corporate Secretary of the Business Architecture Guild.
Ruth Gallagher Nelson is a fast-paced, dynamic, multi-dimensional executive particularly skilled in strategy, planning and complex project management. She is an expert strategist who has co-authored more than 20 strategic plans and supporting documents and executed more than 25 strategic plans which moved organizations toward their visions. Ruth is an agile communicator across motivational, instructional and documentary materials and media. Ruth draws upon her experience in technology, healthcare, turn-arounds, membership associations, education and non-profits to deliver value to her clients. Ruth serves as a strategy consultant to the Business Architecture Guild and on the Finance Committee and Operational Support Committee and chairs the Board of Directors' meetings. Because of her counsel, vision, and patience, the Guild has been able to greatly expand, improve and streamline the delivery of content and programming to its rapidly growing membership.
Jeanie Clapp Is the managing editor of the Business Architecture Guild’s BIZBOK® Guide, has worked predominantly in the content sphere for the last 30 years. For the majority of that time, she has been involved in the production of print magazines, online newsletters and web content. She has overseen all aspects of production from concept to distribution, including, but not limited to, content strategy, editing, proofreading and writing. To every project she works on she brings a sharp attention to detail, a strong work ethic and highly effective communication skills.
Abha Trivedi currently resides in London and comes to us with a wealth of experience in digital and social media, including print and TV, project launches and branding. She has worked with such companies as Proctor and Gamble, Merck, Havas and Novartis. Abha also hosts her own radio show from Ibiza, which makes her more than qualified to host our webinars. Abha is our Events Coordinator and works on speaker management for our Summits and on webinar management and facilitation. We are looking forward to more contributions from Abha as our membership and activities grow.
Kalena Allard Career center and member support. Kalena comes to us with experience in several industries including hospitality, international retail, marketing and sales, and not-for profit organizations. She is very involved in her community, volunteering with youth programs, programs for children with special needs and their families, and serving on the Board of Directors for a community organization. In addition to this, she is a recent empty nester and fills her free time playing tennis competitively. Kalena will be working with Your Membership and Community Brands to improve our Career Center and assist with member support and on-boarding. Her enthusiasm, curiosity and wide range of interests make her a great fit for our very busy and interesting membership, and we are excited to have her join our team.
